Welcome

Thomas Campbell
Welcome to our family's genealogy site. I started my research when I was put in touch with my birth family in 1990. Not only did I work on that line, but I also researched my adoptive family. When Darin and I married, I worked on his lineage as well. I will be adding links to the areas we are searching as well as our favorite genealogy websites. We hope that you enjoy this site and thank you for stopping by.

Most Wanted - I am looking for information about these ancestors. Can you help?

I am constantly working on this site to make it more thorough to aid in your research. If you have something you would like to share, I would welcome that. Credit will gladly be given.

Why genealogy?

I've tried many times to explain it, but these two poems explain it better than I ever could.

Dear Ancestor

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Why Me?

Why me,
This is a tedious task, much work.
Not a great tree, my family,
Not any kind of tree,
A spindly twig....
A stunted sapling of little importance,
No forest giant we.

A pause
Ethereal whispers
Persuasive, soft and still.
"Daughter, if you don't remember us,
Who will?
